Why Spa Therapy is a Booming Career in India

India's wellness industry crossed ₹1.5 lakh crore in 2024 and is projected to grow at 12% CAGR through 2027. Luxury hotels, resort spas, medi-spas and standalone wellness centres are all hiring — and the demand for certified therapists far exceeds supply.

Step 1 — Complete a Recognised Certification

  • VLCC Institute — 6-month diploma in Spa Therapy (available in 30+ cities)
  • Lakme Academy — Beauty & Wellness courses with spa modules
  • CIDESCO — International certification recognised globally
  • ITEC / VTCT — UK-based qualifications accepted by 5-star properties

Step 2 — Choose Your Specialisation

  • Swedish & Deep Tissue Massage
  • Ayurvedic Treatments (Abhyanga, Shirodhara)
  • Hot Stone Therapy
  • Thai Massage
  • Reflexology

Step 3 — Build Practical Experience

Most 5-star hotels require 1–2 years of experience. Start at a local spa or salon after certification to build your client hours.
